About the firm
Five decades of purposeful design
Since 1974, Paul G. Amelchenko Architect has designed residences, commercial buildings, and healthcare facilities that endure.
Our story
Built on craft, driven by client vision
Paul G. Amelchenko founded the firm in 1974 with a single conviction: that architecture should serve the people who inhabit it. Over five decades, that conviction has guided every project — from intimate coastal cottages to large-scale medical facilities.
Working primarily along the East Coast, the firm has developed deep expertise in coastal construction — navigating CAFRA regulations, flood-zone requirements, and the unique structural demands of oceanfront and bayfront sites.
Today the practice remains intentionally focused, taking on a select number of projects each year to ensure every client receives Paul's direct attention from schematic design through certificate of occupancy.

How we work
Principles that guide every project
Client-centered process
Every project begins with listening. We invest time understanding how you live, work, and move through space before a single line is drawn.
Coastal expertise
Decades of experience with CAFRA, FEMA flood zones, and shore construction means fewer surprises and faster approvals for your project.
Direct principal involvement
Paul personally leads every project from initial consultation through construction administration — you always work with the principal, not a junior associate.
Built to endure
We design for longevity — specifying materials and systems that perform beautifully for decades, not just on opening day.
